We're partnered with a technology-driven trading and market infrastructure business building the next generation of high-performance exchange systems. This is an opportunity to join a small, highly specialised engineering group responsible for some of the most performance-critical components across the platform, including matching engine technology, market data distribution, order entry infrastructure and ultra-low latency messaging systems. The environment is genuinely greenfield. Rather than maintaining legacy platforms, you'll help design, build and optimise core components from the ground up, working on systems where performance is measured in microseconds and, in some cases, below.
What you'll be doing:
- Designing and building ultra-low latency Java systems.
- Developing high-performance messaging and exchange infrastructure.
- Driving architectural decisions across critical platform components.
- Working on matching engine and market data technology.
- Optimising systems operating at extreme performance levels.
- Leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering delivery.
- Acting as a technical leader and owner for key platform domains.
What we're looking for:
- Strong low latency or high-performance systems background.
- Deep understanding of networking concepts including TCP, UDP and messaging protocols.
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to operate independently.
- Passion for modern engineering practices and AI-enabled software development.
Why consider it?
- Significant technical ownership.
- Small, highly capable engineering team.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge Java performance engineering.
- Complex technical challenges at genuine scale.
This role would suit a senior engineer, lead engineer or principal engineer looking to remain hands-on while taking ownership of major technical initiatives within a highly technical environment.
