Up to £100,000 base + bonus + strong pension and benefits
Orbis is partnering with an established financial services firm to hire a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with broad technical expertise and a strong sense of ownership.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for business-critical infrastructure and scope to influence how the environment develops. You’ll combine day-to-day engineering and troubleshooting with project delivery across cloud, servers, networking, security and operational resilience.
The role
- Build, configure and maintain infrastructure across Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server and VMware.
- Act as a senior technical escalation point, investigating complex issues and taking them through to resolution.
- Deliver infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations and platform modernisation projects.
- Maintain and improve enterprise networking and secure connectivity.
- Strengthen backup and disaster recovery capabilities, including recovery testing.
- Implement infrastructure security controls, manage patching and vulnerabilities, and support audit remediation.
- Work with technology colleagues, business stakeholders and external providers to deliver reliable services.
- Identify opportunities for automation and recommend practical improvements.
Your experience
- Strong, current hands-on expertise across Microsoft infrastructure, Azure and VMware.
- Broad networking knowledge, including routing, subnetting, firewalls and VPNs.
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery and infrastructure security.
- A track record of owning technical projects from assessment through implementation.
- The ability to prioritise work based on business impact and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues.
Financial services experience would be beneficial, although candidates from MSPs and other business-critical environments are welcome. Exposure to automation, Infrastructure as Code, zScaler or Linux would also be useful.
This role offers substantial technical ownership without people-management responsibilities , making it a strong opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to remain hands-on and influence infrastructure decisions.
