The Opportunity
We're partnering exclusively with a leading global investment firm to appoint a senior cyber security leader who will play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of its security strategy.
This is not a traditional governance-led security position.
Instead, we're looking for an engineering-minded security leader who enjoys solving complex technical problems, building high-performing teams and driving meaningful organisational change.
You'll inherit an established security function while leading the next stage of its evolution, partnering closely with engineering and technology leadership to improve security maturity, modernise identity capabilities and enable innovation across the business.
The Role
Reporting into senior technology leadership, you'll lead multiple security disciplines, including Information Security and Identity & Access Management, with responsibility for a team of approximately 12 people.
Your remit will include
- Leading and developing Information Security and Identity & Access Management teams.
- Driving a large-scale identity transformation programme across a complex technology estate.
- Partnering with engineering teams to embed security into modern development and infrastructure practices.
- Leading incident response and improving operational security capabilities.
- Influencing senior stakeholders across technology and the wider business.
- Building and evolving security strategy while remaining close enough to technology to challenge engineering decisions.
- Developing security capabilities that enable innovation rather than slow it down.
About You
We're interested in security leaders who combine technical credibility with strong leadership and communication skills.
You'll likely have
- Experience leading cyber security teams within a complex, regulated environment such as financial services, fintech, defence, critical national infrastructure, pharmaceuticals or another highly regulated industry.
- A background in software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure or network engineering before moving into security.
- A proven track record of building security functions, teams or transformation programmes rather than simply maintaining mature environments.
- Experience managing technical teams and influencing senior stakeholders across a decentralised organisation.
- The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering teams and executive leadership.
Previous experience as a CISO is not essential.
This opportunity would suit a high-performing Head of Security, Deputy CISO, Head of Cyber or Security Director looking to take the next significant step in their career.
Why Join?
- Opportunity to shape the future direction of cyber security within a global technology-driven business.
- Significant ownership and autonomy.
- Strong partnership with engineering and technology leadership.
- Large-scale transformation work rather than BAU operations.
- Highly competitive compensation package with substantial bonus potential.
- Long-term career growth within an organisation that values technical leadership and innovation.
If you're an engineering-led cyber security leader looking for a role where you can build, influence and drive meaningful change, we'd love to hear from you.
