We're working with a leading financial markets firm looking to hire multiple Full Stack Software Engineers to help build and support business-critical front-office applications.

This is an opportunity to work across the full software lifecycle, owning features from initial requirements through to production, while collaborating closely with end users in a fast-paced engineering environment.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy variety, ownership and solving complex technical challenges rather than being confined to a single part of the stack.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Building full stack applications used by front-office teams.
  • Designing and delivering features from concept through to production.
  • Working across frontend, backend and database technologies.
  • Supporting production applications and resolving technical issues.
  • Investigating incidents, performing root cause analysis and improving application reliability.
  • Collaborating closely with product teams and business users to deliver high-impact solutions.

What we're looking for

  • Commercial experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer.
  • Happy working across frontend and backend technologies.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and system design skills.
  • Experience supporting production applications.
  • Comfortable taking ownership throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Experience working within financial services or other business-critical environments is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to modern cloud technologies and containerised environments is beneficial.
  • Technical Environment

Experience with some of the following is beneficial (the environment is Python/React. js but we're open to candidates from a variety of tech backgrounds).

  • Python
  • React
  • Type Script
  • Go
  • Java
  • C++
  • C#
  • SQL

You don't need experience with every technology. Strong engineering ability and a willingness to learn are valued more than matching a specific tech stack.

  • What's on offer
  • Join a growing engineering team
  • Broad technical ownership across a variety of business-critical systems.
  • Excellent career progression opportunities.
  • Competitive salary, bonus and comprehensive benefits package.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Orbis Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
