This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technology leader who thrives on driving service excellence, strengthening cyber security, and delivering modern cloud-based solutions within a purpose-driven organisation.
The Role
As IT Manager, you will provide leadership and strategic direction for Orbis IT function, ensuring our technology services effectively support colleagues and service users across multiple locations.
You will travel across our sites in South Wales and Northern England.
You will lead a dedicated IT team, manage key technology partners, oversee our Microsoft cloud environment and champion continual service improvement through ITIL best practice.
Acting as the bridge between technology and the wider business, you will ensure our systems remain secure, resilient and fit for future growth.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and Inspire
- Manage, mentor and develop the IT team, fostering a high-performing and customer-focused culture.
- Act as the primary technology partner to senior leadership teams.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Manage IT budgets, monitor expenditure and identify opportunities for optimisation and value.
- Drive Service Excellence
- Own and develop IT service management processes aligned to ITIL 4 best practice.
- Lead incident, problem, change and request management across all services.
- Monitor service performance, KPIs and SLAs to ensure exceptional end-user support.
- Produce management reporting and drive continual improvement initiatives.
- Own Identity and Cloud Services
- Manage and enhance our Microsoft Entra ID environment, including Conditional Access, MFA, PIM and identity protection.
- Oversee user access, role-based permissions and identity lifecycle management.
- Administer and continuously improve our Microsoft 365 platform, including Exchange Online, Teams, Share Point and One Drive.
- Manage Microsoft Intune and Autopilot deployments across multiple sites and device types.
- Champion Cyber Security
- Lead the management of Microsoft\'s security technologies, including Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365 and Defender for Cloud.
- Respond to security incidents and drive remediation activities.
- Maintain patch compliance and endpoint security standards.
- Support Cyber Essentials and wider information security objectives.
- Maintain and develop the IT risk register and security policies.
- Manage Infrastructure and Connectivity
- Oversee network connectivity across multiple sites, including WAN, LAN, VPN and firewall management.
- Manage relationships with ISPs, hardware providers and managed service suppliers.
- Lead hardware lifecycle planning, procurement, deployment and secure disposal.
About You
You'll be an experienced IT leader with the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical delivery.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in an IT Manager, Infrastructure Manager or Senior IT Engineering role.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including Conditional Access, PIM, SSPR and hybrid identity environments.
- Excellent Microsoft 365 and Intune administration experience.
- Demonstrable experience implementing and managing ITIL-based service management processes.
- Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs and firewall technologies.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers and service providers.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong documentation, planning and organisational capabilities.
Desirable
- Microsoft certifications.
- ITIL certification.
- Experience working within education, care, healthcare or multi-site environments.
- Knowledge of Cyber Essentials and information security frameworks.
