Orbis are proudly working with an Investment Management firm in Central London and are looking to hire an AI Engineering Manager with a background in Software Engineering or Data Engineering and a solid understanding of the current AI landscape. The AI Engineering Manager will help shape, build and deliver the next generation of AI and automation capabilities. This is a rare opportunity to join a firm modernising its engineering landscape, working with business leaders to turn complex problems into real, production‑ready AI solutions.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Leading or contributing to the design, build and delivery of AI‑driven solutions across the firm, from prototype to production
- Partnering with business stakeholders to refine opaque problems, identify AI/automation opportunities and shape technical requirements
- Working with large volumes of unstructured “dark data” to extract insights, build semantic models and support new AI use cases
- Driving or supporting modern engineering practices across Azure, Python, and the firm’s emerging AI ecosystem
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Excellent hands‑on Python experience with experience working with modern LLM/GenAI frameworks (e.g. LangChain, LangGraph, PyTorch) with deep expertise in AI/ML frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn, and Hugging Face Transformers)
- Excellent understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem including Azure, AI services, and the evolving roadmap shaping Microsoft’s cloud and AI solutions
- Excellent proven experience working directly with cross‑functional business stakeholders to understand challenges and translate into technical requirements
- Strong experience of managing and/or leading teams of Software and Data Engineers
