Contract: Permanent

Make a Difference in Education

Are you passionate about helping children and young people thrive in education? Do you have experience supporting behavioural needs, SEND, autism, ADHD, or emotional wellbeing within school environments?

We are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Specialist to join our growing team, supporting schools across Powys. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with education professionals, families, and multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for children and young people through evidence-based behavioural support.

Unlike many education-based roles, this position is not term-time only, offering the stability of a full-year contract and the opportunity to make a lasting impact across multiple educational settings.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Specialist, you will provide expert behavioural consultation, coaching, assessment, and training to schools. You will help staff understand the function of behaviour, develop positive support strategies, and create inclusive learning environments where pupils can succeed.

Working within a consultative model, you will build staff confidence and capability through coaching, modelling best practice, and delivering professional development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing behavioural consultation and support to schools across Powys.
  • Undertaking behavioural and functional assessments.
  • Developing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and intervention strategies.
  • Supporting schools to implement trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approaches.
  • Delivering training on behaviour support, regulation, autism, ADHD, de‑escalation, inclusion, and positive outcomes.
  • Coaching teachers, teaching assistants, and school leaders to build sustainable practice.
  • Supporting the reduction of exclusions, restrictive practices, and barriers to learning.
  • Attending multidisciplinary meetings, reviews, and collaborative planning sessions.
  • Analysing behavioural and wellbeing data to inform interventions.
  • Producing professional reports, recommendations, and documentation.

About You

We are looking for someone who brings both expertise and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.

You will ideally have:

  • Degree in Psychology, Education, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Behaviour Analysis, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND and behavioural needs.
  • Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and functional assessment approaches.
  • Experience working within educational settings.
  • Knowledge of autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong report‑writing and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Powys.
  • Experience delivering staff training and professional development.
  • Knowledge of sensory processing and sensory-informed environments.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of SEND legislation and graduated response frameworks.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary of £30,500 per annum
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • Clinical and professional supervision
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children's educational experiences
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
