Support Worker – Barry (West Aberthaw)

Full‑time, 40.25 hours a week. Hourly Rate: £12.60‑£12.80. Annual Location Allowance: £1,500.

About Ty Carreg

Located in West Aberthaw near the seaside town of Barry, Ty Carreg is a specialist facility for twelve adults with autism, aged 18 and above. Set in beautifully converted stone barns, Ty Carreg offers both self‑contained apartments and shared living spaces, all designed to support the diverse needs of our individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised care and support for each individual\’s physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Encourage participation in recreational activities, community outings, and daily social interactions.
  • Build independence and self-esteem, encouraging each individual to reach personal milestones.
  • Tailor support plans in collaboration with individuals to meet their unique needs and preferences.
  • Document daily progress and keep accurate records of activities and development.
  • Support daily living tasks such as meal preparation and light housekeeping.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.
  • A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team.
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication.
  • A full UK driving licence (required for supporting transportation to appointments and activities).
  • The right to work in the UK with at least 12 months remaining on a visa (if applicable).
  • No prior experience required – just passion, patience, and commitment.

Please note: This job role involves regulated activity with adults and requires an enhanced DBS with barred list check.
