About the Role

Join us at Orbis Education and Care as a Support Worker, supporting adults with autism at Ty Carreg, a specialist facility in West Aberthaw near Barry. This purpose‑driven role offers the chance to help individuals lead fulfilling, independent lives in a caring, professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing personalised care – ensure each individual\’s physical, emotional, and social needs are met with respect and sensitivity.
  • Encouraging participation – support individuals in engaging with recreational activities, community outings, and daily social interactions to strengthen confidence and enjoyment.
  • Building independence – promote self‑esteem and independence, encouraging individuals to reach personal milestones and celebrate achievements.
  • Tailoring support plans – work closely with each individual to develop care plans responsive to unique needs and preferences.
  • Documenting daily progress – keep accurate records of daily activities, development, and notable events.
  • Supporting daily living – assist with household tasks such as meal preparation and light housekeeping, creating a warm and welcoming home atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • A compassionate and caring nature with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.
  • A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team.
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication.
  • A full UK driving licence – essential for supporting transportation to appointments and activities.
  • The right to work in the UK with at least 12 months remaining on your visa (if applicable).
