We are currently looking for an Extrusion Technician to join us at Chippenham. If you want to make a difference and work for a purpose-led company, please read on.
The role:
- Ensure site compliance with Health and Safety policy and procedures, supporting risk assessments, new equipment commissioning and problem solving.
- Ensure that all activities undertaken conform to the appropriate standards and regulations.
- Ensure timely and effective line changes are completed in accordance with required outputs and the production plan.
- Assist production in optimising the extrusion processes for quality, line speed and weight.
- Participate in the development and implementation of improvement plans.
- Assist in the training and development of production operators and other technicians.
- Carry out machine start/shut-down – hand-over to operators, tooling repairs, replacements and modifications, handing over to production across all extrusion lines.
- Develop own competencies on extrusion tooling, materials upstream and downstream processes.
- Ensure all extrusion tooling is correctly serviced and maintained, completing autonomous maintenance tasks, per required schedules.
- Provide technical assistance in improvement plans, capital project and new product development.
- Support external tool servicing/repairs/replacements and ensure work is carried out to the required standard.
- Support material and development trials.
- Work with engineering or external sub-contractors on extrusion lines to ensure the relevant repairs/maintenance are carried out and are compliant with Health and Safety policy and procedures.
- Work with other operational departments should the need arise.
The profile:
- Academic Level: Min. Secondary Education
- Knowledge/Experience: Extrusion tooling & manufacturing processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Experience of short/medium size batch production.
- Autonomous in planning and organising activities for themselves.
- Able to communicate effectively.
- Flexible and adaptable work ethic, developing self and others to improve competencies.
- Health and Safety Level 1 responsibility statement.
- Willingness to embrace change and improve processes and systems.
