We are currently looking for a Toolmaker to join us at Wavin. If you want to make a difference and work for a purpose-led company, please read on. Reporting to the Toolroom Supervisor, the Toolmaker will be responsible for:
- Carrying out planned maintenance activities in line with tool and schedule attainment, developing new activities where and when required, whilst always maintaining H&S standards and adhering to legislation.
- Carrying out day-to-day toolmaking activities (including tooling service, tooling audits, bench working and manual machining), maintaining tooling availability.
- Carrying out proactive work including planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and improvement work on extrusion and mould tools.
- Contributing to implementing new working methods and actively participating in continuous improvement.
- Involvement in site projects around the site.
- Maintaining maintenance monitoring.
- Operating in line with all Wavin H&S Standards.
- Implementing and adhering to safe working practices in accordance with legislation and the Wavin WorkSafe programme.
- Supporting the Toolroom Supervisor in implementing workplace organisation across the tooling department.
- Mentoring Apprentices within the Toolroom and engineering department.
The profile:
- Experienced bench fitter or machinist with experience undertaking form changes, bench fitting, mechanical machining of parts and cleaning and polishing of tooling equipment.
- Ability to operate toolroom equipment including manual machining tools, manual lathe, manual miller, surface grinders, & cylindrical grinders.
- Mechanical fault finding experience (desirable).
- CNC lathe experience (desirable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident communicating with personnel at all levels.
- Effective organisational skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the added need for flexibility as and when required to meet business needs.
- A team player with a strong work ethic.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to work unsupervised at times.
- Can demonstrate attention to detail, with the ability to problem solve.
- Involvement in continuous improvement projects/activities, with the ability to introduce new working methods and ideas.
- A willingness to drive and actively endorse and promote excellent standards of work and H&S compliance.
