Key Responsibilities
This is a key technical support role with the primary purpose to provide technician support to the Technical Department, which will support the development of new compounds and processes of the company in order to provide a technical edge on a sound commercial basis, in line with business objectives and to help secure the future growth of the company.
The Laboratory Technician has responsibility and accountability for support testing of products in all product sectors relating to but not limited to new product development, technical service to customers and technical support to manufacturing. The sector encompasses PVC additives and PVC compounds.
Main Responsibilities
- Typical polymeric testing of products in the laboratory to specifications
- Assisting the compound development team with material development and production support tasks
- Providing test results reports
- Assisting with the control and purchasing of laboratory provisions
- Assisting with the maintenance of the library of test specifications
- Assisting with the management of service and calibration of test equipment
- Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks
- Carrying out risk assessments for laboratory activities
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Formal qualification in Science or Materials/Polymer Technology (‘A’ level equivalent or higher preferred)
Knowledge / Experience Required
- Self‑motivated, a team‑player and enthusiastic
- Must be well organised
- Must be able to liaise effectively with internal and external customers
- Good writing skills a pre‑requisite, must be computer literate e.g. familiar with Microsoft Office programmes
- A working knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Systems would be advantageous
