The Senior Engineering Manager provides leadership, oversight, guidance, and direction to a cross‑functional team of Maintenance, Facilities, Planning, Capital Expense Project, Reliability and Integrity Departments to ensure that operations at the UK sites (Rocksavage, Cheshire Technical Centre & The Heath) can be operated safely, reliably and profitably to meet Orbia’s short‑ and long‑term objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead, provide strategic direction and manage the engineering departments: Mechanical and Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I), including Maintenance, Civil, Capital Expense Project/Planning, DCS, and Contractor management.
- Partner with the Site Production Manager to ensure overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is maintained and maximized across the UK plants, assets and infrastructure.
- Develop and manage the engineering teams and their individual members to ensure maximum contribution to the business.
- Provide mechanical, civil and EC&I strategy and oversight for the asset lifecycle through planning, acquisition, operation, maintenance and decommissioning / disposal.
- Maintain and improve performance of the company’s physical assets and control maintenance labour and material costs to achieve plant performance goals while optimising costs and working capital.
- Act as a site and operations senior manager to define and implement SHEQ&S strategy and direction for the business, accountable for compliance with safety, health, environment and cGMP quality.
- Deliver high‑quality project and program management standards across the capital expense project lifecycle, working closely with the business engineering director to meet Orbia PMO expectations.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary professional teams, developing self and teams and maintaining a talent pipeline for long‑term operations.
Qualifications
- Academic level: Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge / Experience
- More than 20 years of experience in the chemical industry.
- More than 15 years of experience in maintenance management within the chemical sector.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and team collaboration skills.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical maintenance, reliability, integrity and engineering controls.
- Strong expertise in electrical, control and instrumentation (EC&I) maintenance, reliability, integrity and engineering controls.
- In‑depth understanding of project management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in SAP, maintenance systems, CAPEX management and related tools and processes.
