We are currently looking for a Technical Sales Manager – Above Ground to join us at Wavin. Reporting to Regional Sales Director – North, the successful candidate will be responsible for securing converted orders by means of specifications and lead conversion for all products within the Above Ground product portfolio. The role will also be responsible for effectively managing all End User sub-contract relationships driving maximum opportunity for the use of Wavin products and maintaining and developing sales within our specialist below ground national and independent distribution outlets.
The appointee will also be responsible for targeting and converting new merchant distribution branches within designated territories, whilst also providing product and sales training to our merchant staff in the AG sector. At all times, Wavin and its associated product brands must be actively promoted and well represented across the construction and building products markets in line with the core strategy of the business. This role covers North Wales, Staffordshire and the West Midlands including Chester and Derby.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role are:
- Achieving monthly and quarterly Commercial Objectives and KPIs, which will be discussed and clearly outlined.
- Engaging fully with all health and safety programmes and always operating safely in accordance with Work Safe principles.
- Value of orders converted.
- Conversion rate of opportunity to order.
- Development of Project Pipeline.
- Call ratio and frequency by customer type.
- BIM customer penetration and adoption.
- Mandatory use of Company CRM system including logging detailed activities and projects.
- Engaging with Specifiers to secure written confirmation of Wavin products on Commercial, Industrial, Infrastructure and Residential opportunities.
- Managing and developing End User relationships.
- Actively participating in business planning to grow and develop sales.
- Ensuring that all customer requests are responded to professionally and efficiently.
- Positively promoting the business, its products, and its employees to ensure the business is always protected.
- Contributing to the development of all systems and procedures to continuously improve effectiveness.
- Ensuring all management information – KPIs, Monthly Reports are submitted on time, in full.
- Delivering CPD and product training to all relevant parties, e.g. Specifiers, Architects, Key Merchant Personnel.
- Contributing successfully to the launch of all new product ranges.
- To grow and develop Branch Sales above annual targeted levels.
- To identify and progress opportunities for additional ranges in existing networks.
- To provide effective Product and Commercial training to Branch personnel.
- To identify, target and convert new stockists from competitors’ products to Wavin Ranges.
- To implement Marketing and Sales Promotions in designated branches.
- To support in negotiating new Independent Trading Agreements.
- To participate in and support Supply Chain Initiatives.
The profile:
- Experience within a market-leading manufacturing business, preferably within the building products or construction industry.
- Initiates action to meet customer needs.
- Proven track record of successful specification sales including management of a Project Pipeline.
- Can demonstrate drive and ambition by setting challenging goals and seeking to achieve them.
- Communicate confidently and to a high standard across a wide range of mediums.
- Proactive use of a CRM system, preferably Microsoft Dynamics.
- Is entrepreneurial in identifying new business opportunities.
- Experienced in successful negotiation, persuasion and influencing.
- Plans and organises efficiently and effectively.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Confident at making informed business decisions.
- Adapts and responds well to change.
- Well presented with proven organisational and preparation skills.
- Flexible approach to tasks and hours.
- Pro-active and self-motivated.
- A sound commercial awareness of the building products and construction industries.
- An understanding of the business’ product portfolio.

- GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English at a minimum grade C or equivalent.
