Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is looking for a Technical Plant Manager to be based at Runcorn, Cheshire, UK.
Main PurposeProvide technical support to the Non-Medical (CTF, EPS and Infrastructure) operating areas by taking ownership of and delivering work related to day-to-day technical support to the operating assets, reporting, troubleshooting/root cause analysis, projects & modifications, process engineering, improvements and optimisation. Act as the process technical lead for the operating area working closely with the operating team and effectively working within and with other functions to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of the assets to achieve the overall business objectives.
Main Responsibilities- Demonstrate full personal and professional commitment to SHEQ&S and proactively support the teams in continuously complying with and improving SHEQ&S systems and processes.
- Support the operations team and site by owning, effectively managing and resolving process technical issues related to plant and unit operations. This includes day to day as well as medium to longer term technical issues or improvements.
- Effectively coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on process technical and engineering problems to facilitate safe, reliable and efficient operation of the assets.
- Act as the focal point for modifications and assigned projects and proactively comply, and where necessary, continuously improve management systems.
- Participate in training and development activities related to the operating team and develop, perform and support training, competence management and human-factors-related activities as required by the site/business.
- Develop, optimise and produce required technical and managerial reports on time and to the required quality. Present these reports and associated analysis to internal management teams and customers as and when required.
- Carry out conceptual, front-end or detailed process engineering for assigned projects and modifications to ensure compliance with statutory requirement, recognised good practice and relevant national or corporate standards.
- Develop, effectively coordinate and manage systems related to safety, operability, costs or risk management such as but not limited to alarms, SIS, reliability, RCA, VPCs/unit usages, OEE, etc.
- Meeting reporting deadlines for Production and Environmental Data to internal (Orbia F&EM Site Functions) and external (Syngenta) customers (including bank holiday periods).
- Stand-in for the Site Technical Manager or Operational Management roles if/as required and represent the Site Management Team as a responsible and committed leader.
Minimum: Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering. Desirable: Chartered status or working towards chartered status.
Knowledge/ Experience Required- 5+ years' experience in the chemicals or process industry in a technical or operational management role.
- 2+ years' experience directly on or supporting an operating chemical asset.
- Previous experience of managing projects and/or modifications on operating assets from concept to execution.
- Previous experience of developing technical proposals, reports, documentation, investigation and root cause analysis.
- Experience of working in multi-discipline teams where personal output and collaboration are both important determinants of success.
- Major accident hazard regulations and typical management systems (COMAH for the UK).
- Process Safety Management – systems, processes and techniques such as HAZOPs, HAZID, Management of Change, Pre-start-up safety reviews, alarm management, SIS management, DSEAR, etc.
- Technical report writing.
