Orbex are looking for a skilled and experienced Avionics AIT Engineer with significant skills in electrical design. You will play a crucial role in supporting Assembly, Integration, Testing and Validation AIT/V activities for avionics systems, be responsible for data logging, instrumentation selection and designing data acquisition systems and Electrical-Ground Support Equipment (E-GSE).
The Position
Key responsibilities of the role
- Design and integrate data acquisition systems and E-GSE for testing and validation of subsystems and systems from various departments.
- Work with control systems and implement PLCs for ground system controls.
- Execute electrical-avionic AIT/V activities on launchers and relevant systems, with a focus on meticulous testing, validation and acceptance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to specify interfaces and integrate instrumentation effectively on the ground site and on the vehicle.
- Optimize testing processes and deliver accurate results.
- Assist in the design and implementation of ATEX systems to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, where applicable.
- Support compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620/ECSS-Q-ST standards to maintain high-quality standards in harnessing and avionics integration.
- Work directly with electrical and avionic systems during test and troubleshooting.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational background in Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace or a related field.
- Proven experience in data logging, instrumentation selection, and specifying interfaces within instrumentation for testing.
- Expertise in data acquisition systems design for avionics testing and integration.
- Proven experience in PLC programming and configuration of PLCs.
- Ability to work with both in-house/bespoke systems and off-the-shelf tools like NI, LabView, etc.
- Experience in conducting electrical-avionic AIT/V activities on launchers or equivalent systems (missiles/submarines/ROV’s).
- Proven experience in electrical schematics (2D and 3D) preferably on SolidWorks Electrical
Desirable experience and traits
- Experience in designing ATEX systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Hands-on experience with electrical/avionics systems for testing and integration purposes.
- Qualification in IPC/WHMA-A-620 (IP620) standards to ensure high-quality harnessing and assembly.
