We’re looking for an IoT Electronics Engineer to design and implement electronic components and systems that power the development of innovative consumer health and wearable products. This is a hands-on role focused on bringing innovative hardware from concept through production, working at the intersection of electronics, embedded systems, and product development. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, reliable, and scalable solutions.
Hybrid working – ORB office is located next to Old Street Station, London.
Key Responsibilities- Lead hardware prototyping, testing, and validation — including component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and lab testing.
- Troubleshoot and debug electronic systems using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and multimeters.
- Work closely with firmware, software, mechanical, and data teams to integrate electronics into complete product systems.
- Evaluate new technologies, components, and architectures for future product designs.
- Collaborate with external PCB manufacturers and assembly partners to support prototyping, DFM improvements, and production readiness.
- Write prototype firmware or test drivers in C to validate sensors and hardware functionality.
- Design PCB schematics and layouts using EDA tools such as Altium Designer.
- Partner with firmware engineers on hardware–software integration across sensors, wireless modules, and communication interfaces.
- Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), supporting component selection, lifecycle management, and cost optimisation.
- Develop validation procedures, test setups, and internal tools to support hardware development.
- Stay current with developments in embedded electronics, wireless systems, and wearable technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field required; Master’s preferred.
- 7+ years of experience designing and developing electronic hardware.
- Demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex electronic design within multidisciplinary product development teams.
- Strong background in analog and digital circuit design, including microcontrollers, sensors, and wireless communication.
- Experience working with Bluetooth (including BLE) and wireless embedded systems.
- Experience writing or modifying embedded C for hardware testing or sensor integration.
- Experience with Python for testing, automation, or data analysis.
- Track record of bringing electronic products from concept to production, ideally in wearables or connected devices.
- Experience working with PCB manufacturers and assembly vendors, including DFM and production support.
- Experience creating and managing BOMs, including component selection and lifecycle management.
- Bonus – Experience with wireless charging.
- Bonus – Experience with basic 3D printing.
