Principal Nuclear Safety Consultant

Within the Nuclear Safety discipline of Orano Limited, you will lead and deliver technically competent documents that exceed client requirements, working independently and supporting other Nuclear Safety consultants. You will support clients across new build, decommissioning, and ongoing operational projects, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, on time, and to the agreed programme. This role offers opportunities to develop new skills, refresh existing ones, and work with new clients. You will also support and mentor graduate consultants.
As a Principal Consultant, you will lead, manage, or deliver nuclear safety documents across the full lifecycle of nuclear operations for a variety of clients.
Responsibilities
- Deliver consultancy that meets and exceeds client expectations in technical excellence and deliverable quality.
- Deliver consultancy that meets and exceeds client expectations in timescales and cost, supporting the business’s long‑term growth and reputation.
- Serve as the technical lead for projects, directly answerable to the client or the Orano Lead.
- Provide nuclear safety advice and guidance for multidisciplinary projects, interfacing with engineers, human‑factor specialists, and other disciplines.
- Develop and present robust, reasoned arguments in a rational and coherent manner.
- Provide technical checking and/or verification for technical/compliance/ thoroughness of argument/QA standards.
- Liaise with all concerned on technical progress.
- Take documents through all levels of client governance (technical checking, peer review, safety committees).
- Manage stakeholder relationships internally and for clients.
- Support and develop less experienced consultants.
- Develop your own skills or refresh existing skills.
- Work with the Business Development Team to identify opportunities with clients to grow the business.
- Collaborate with the bid team on bid production.
