Overview

Orano Limited is a nuclear specialist technical consultancy and engineering organisation working across the decommissioning, defence, nuclear new build, medical, fuel-cycle and transport sectors. As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of a 2-year graduate scheme in which your employment will continue thereafter. Your work will have a real impact on making our world safer for now and for future generations, providing early exposure to a breadth of knowledge to start your career with us. There may be an opportunity to do secondments with other disciplines you are interested in too.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design development of decommissioning strategies, providing technical mechanical engineering expertise across the full asset life cycle and develop solutions for turnkey projects.
  • 3D modelling
  • Develop concept design ideas into viable solutions
  • 2D detail design drawings – to BS8888
  • Collaborative working with other disciplines/clients
  • Mechanical Handling/Flow diagrams
  • Production of engineering specifications and documentation
  • Site visits (project dependent international travel)
  • Mechanical engineering calculations
  • Working closely with Mechanical Engineers
  • Working with/to engineering (British and international) design standards and codes
  • IMechE support and mentoring
  • Close working relationships with other Orano sites and client sites may be required, which necessitates regular travel to those sites (dependent upon project & client requirements)

About the role

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer at Orano Limited, you will be involved in 3D modelling, developing concept design ideas into viable solutions, producing 2D detail design drawings to BS8888, and collaborating with other disciplines and clients. You will perform mechanical handling/flow diagrams, produce engineering specifications and documentation, undertake site visits, and perform mechanical engineering calculations while aligning with British and international design standards and codes. There is potential for secondments across disciplines and international travel depending on project requirements.
