Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Huddersfield for a Print/Signs Production Operative. The role involves operating and monitoring print and large-format machinery, preparing artwork files for production, and ensuring accurate setup and alignment of materials. The operative will be responsible for cutting, finishing, and assembling signage, displays, and graphics, including laminating, mounting, and basic installation work outside the workshop. Daily tasks include maintaining equipment, managing stock of print media and substrates, following health and safety procedures, and meeting production deadlines. The role also includes quality checking completed work, packaging orders for dispatch, and collaborating with colleagues and supervisors to prioritise jobs and resolve production issues.
Qualifications
- Experience with print production processes, including large-format printing, vinyl cutting, and laminating, ideally in signage or display manufacturing.
- Practical skills in handling materials and tools, such as trimming, mounting, and basic fabrication or assembly of signs and graphics.
- Ability to read and work from design files or job sheets, with good attention to detail and accurate measurement and layout skills.
- Basic IT skills and familiarity with print-related software or RIPs (e.g., Adobe or similar) are beneficial.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple jobs and meet deadlines in a production environment.
- Commitment to safe working practices, including following workshop health and safety guidelines and maintaining a clean, orderly workspace.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a flexible, problem-solving approach and willingness to learn new techniques.
- Previous experience in signage, print, display, or a similar manufacturing environment is desirable; relevant vocational training or apprenticeship is an advantage.
