We are a Sheffield based start-up providing expert engineering consultancy to a variety of clients and industries. We primarily focus on engineered product design, and work in a range of industries and contexts from quantum computing and biotech to heavy industry and animal welfare. As Workshop Technician, you will take ownership of our mechanical and electronics workshops—becoming the resident expert on our equipment, maintaining immaculate working environments, and enabling our engineers to do their best work. This is a hands‑on role at the heart of a company that loves making things.
About you
This role has a wide salary and experience range. We’re open to experienced machinists looking for a thoughtful, high‑standards environment, or excellent candidates from unconventional backgrounds, e.g. hobbyist maker. We value drive, culture fit, and a track‑record of excellence above all else, but the below competencies, interests, and attributes are extremely desirable:
- Strong hands‑on experience with manual and/or CNC machining (lathe, mill)
- Experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, or other fabrication methods
- A genuine commitment to organised, well‑maintained workspaces
- Good practical understanding of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to keep learning
Alongside the above, the below competencies will strengthen an application:
- Experience maintaining, servicing, or repairing workshop equipment
- Familiarity with electronics assembly and soldering
- CAD/CAM or programming experience
- Interest in process improvement and lean systems
