About Us

Love & Humphries is a small print company based in Port Glasgow, operating across various niches. We are ambitious. Production is exclusively in Port Glasgow. We have offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Our in‑house production capabilities include SRA3 UV litho and SRA3 digital printing, in‑house foiling, emboss/debossing and die cutting, perfect binding, paper over board capability, and high‑end finishing for short‑run books. We do outsource jobs that are not efficient on our kit to external suppliers, B1, and B2 printing.

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Print Estimator to join our team part‑time to ensure accurate and timely job costing.

The Role

The Part‑time Print Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the cost of print jobs and generating professional quotes for customers. This role is central to our sales and production workflow, requiring proficient use of our Management Information System, PrintSmith Vision, and strong knowledge of print production methods. A key focus will be on getting estimating processes right and refining them to support our growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate accurate cost estimates and formal quotations for a wide range of print products, digital and bespoke jobs.
  • Utilise and maintain the PrintSmith MIS system to create and manage estimates, ensuring correct details are captured including job title, description, quantities, and defining Job Parts (e.g., Cover and Inner Pages for booklets).
  • Gather and verify all necessary technical specifications (e.g., materials, quantities, finishes, timings) from customer inquiries. Suggest alternatives when appropriate.
  • Liaise with external suppliers to secure up‑to‑date and competitive quotes for materials and outsourced services.
  • Organise and save all estimated files, client communication, and supporting documentation into the appropriate folders within our file management system.
  • Utilise PlanProphet (Salesforce) to cross‑reference and confirm customer details and account status before creating new estimates in PrintSmith.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure estimates accurately reflect manufacturing capabilities and workflow.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a Print Estimator or similar role within the print industry.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in using MIS (PrintSmith preference) for estimating, job creation, and record‑keeping.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear interaction with team suppliers.
  • Familiarity with various print processes (e.g., digital, litho, large format) and materials.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple quotes and deadlines concurrently.

Working Pattern

Part‑time 20 hrs per week – 5 days (Mon‑Fri) 4 hrs/day. This role offers the flexibility of remote work or can be based at any of our offices.
