Job Description
Job Title: HGV Driver
Reports To: All HGV Drivers report to the Transport Logistics Manager
Job Overview
HGV Drivers will deliver animal bedding (bales and loose wood shavings) to farms and poultry sites across the Midlands and up North. They will also collect trailers and skips of wood bi-products from mills and other sites. To enable this they will be prepared to learn a variety of skills and will be given appropriate training.
HGV Drivers will liaise directly with customers and represent the Company, therefore they will demonstrate good customer service and communication skills.
Candidates will be willing to work flexible hours within a 10 hour shift, usually starting around 5.30am. Some nights out and weekend working will be required.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Customer contact and liaison
- Carry out statutory checks
- Accurate completion and handling of administrative paperwork to ensure compliance
- Use of Moffett
- Required to operate/pull trailers, skips, modified trailers, curtain siders, walking floors etc
- Liaising with Production Manager and Yard/Stores staff to support order fulfilment
- Opportunity to learn new skills and be trained in new licences
- Ongoing CPC training and other training provided by the Company
Remuneration
- £16.26 per hour
- £24.39 per hour for Weekends and BH working
- Night out rate of £40 gross
- Ongoing CPC training provided by Company (as required)

- Holiday – start at 20 days plus statutory holidays, moving up to 25 days plus statutory holidays per annum (depending on time served)
Qualifications and Experience
- A valid full category Class 1/HGV C+E licence
- Must have a current LGV CE CPC and Digi Card
- Good awareness of safe working practices
- Experience of driving HGV Class 1 in rural areas desirable
Hours
- 45 hours per week
- Flexible times
- Some Nights Out and alternate weekend working if required (1 day)
- Some Bank Holiday working (days in lieu awarded)
