Full job description
Located at our brand home in Dunfermline, we are looking for an experienced, technically skilled Sewing Machinist/Technician to join our creative production team. Coat making experience is desired and you will competently operate industrial lockstitch sewing machines to a high standard. Due to our studio environment (not a production line), you may additionally have other garment cutting, making skills and techniques to share. You will work well in a team setting and have competencies around production flow, scheduling & timing, and understanding technical specifications.
Candidates must be Scotland/UK based.
Work location:
In person at BORTHWICK business address.
Key Responsibilities:
- To ensure safe handling of machines you come into contact with, operating machinery in accordance with procedures and training provided.
- Follow design and technical specification pack information.
- Meet productivity targets in relation to making garments to meet deadlines as identified on the production schedule.
- Inspect raw materials for defects / quality issues.
- Minimise waste / damage and strive for high quality standards.
- Time management is a core skill.
- Maintain machine health and report faults.
- Work in a modern manufacturing environment with fellow team members.
- Play a role in our brand culture and values.
- Follow health, safety, and workplace regulations.
- Meet agreed quality standards aiming for ‘right first time, right every time’.
- Assist in training of junior technicians.
Full-time hours:
- Monday – Thursday 9.00am – 5.30pm
- Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm
- Overtime may be required during busy production periods
