Are you based in the Musicians’ Union Wales and South West England Region with a knowledge of the music industry at national and local level? Do you have the ability to provide advice and support to members across the range of regional services delivered to MU members? You could be the person we are looking for to fill our part time Wales & South West England (WSWE) Regional Officer vacancy. The Musicians’ Union (MU) is the UK trade union for musicians and represents over 36,000 musicians across the UK working in all sectors of the music business.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and assistance in conjunction with internal and external solicitors.
- Develop and undertake initiatives, strategies and projects to maximise the recruitment and retention of members and support the music industry within the region.
- Work within the WSWE Regional Team and collaborate with the Regional Organiser, WSWE Regional Officer (full time) and Regional Services Assistant.
- Ensure integrity, discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential matters, including disputes and conflicts.
- Support the regional aims and objectives of the trade union movement and contribute to the team and individual work plans.
Requirements
- Experience providing advice in a union or legal context and ability to work with internal and external solicitors.
- High level of integrity, discretion and professionalism; ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
- Ability to work well both within a team and independently.
- Commitment to the aims and objectives of the trade union movement.
- Willingness to travel within the region and occasionally UK-wide with overnight stays.
Position details
- Part time, 0.6 FTE, permanent; Cardiff-based WSWE Office with hybrid working from home; travel within the region and occasional UK-wide travel with overnight stays.
- Salary: £51,450 per annum pro rata, plus £3,455 regional weighting pro rata; pension contribution, flexible working and development opportunities; 30 days annual leave pro rata (excluding public holidays).
