The Role


We are looking for an experienced and motivated Accounts Senior to join our team. This is a varied and rewarding role covering both accounts preparation and tax compliance work, with a high degree of autonomy and direct client contact.


The successful candidate will be an important part of a small, friendly team and will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the practice.


Key Responsibilities



  • Preparation of year‑end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies

  • Preparation and submission of corporation tax returns and personal self‑assessment tax returns

  • Liaison with clients to gather information and resolve queries

  • Supporting clients who use cloud bookkeeping software including FreeAgent, QuickBooks, Sage, and Clearbooks

  • Assisting with Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance and submissions

  • Reviewing work prepared by junior members of the team where appropriate

  • Maintaining accurate records and meeting filing deadlines


Skills and Experience Required



  • Proven experience in a similar practice‑based role — qualified, part‑qualified, or qualified by experience considered

  • Strong working knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance for owner‑managed businesses

  • Experience with TaxCalc (accounts production and tax modules) is highly desirable

  • Familiarity with cloud bookkeeping platforms — FreeAgent, QuickBooks, Sage, or Clearbooks

  • Understanding of Making Tax Digital requirements

  • Ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Excellent communication skills and a client‑focused approach

  • A team player who is comfortable working in a small, busy practice environment
