The Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Accounts Senior to join our team. This is a varied and rewarding role covering both accounts preparation and tax compliance work, with a high degree of autonomy and direct client contact. The successful candidate will be an important part of a small, friendly team and will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of year‑end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Preparation and submission of corporation tax returns and personal self‑assessment tax returns
- Liaison with clients to gather information and resolve queries
- Supporting clients who use cloud bookkeeping software including FreeAgent, QuickBooks, Sage, and Clearbooks
- Assisting with Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance and submissions
- Reviewing work prepared by junior members of the team where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate records and meeting filing deadlines
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience in a similar practice‑based role — qualified, part‑qualified, or qualified by experience considered
- Strong working knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance for owner‑managed businesses
- Experience with TaxCalc (accounts production and tax modules) is highly desirable
- Familiarity with cloud bookkeeping platforms — FreeAgent, QuickBooks, Sage, or Clearbooks
- Understanding of Making Tax Digital requirements
- Ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills and a client‑focused approach
- A team player who is comfortable working in a small, busy practice environment
