Job Role: Engineering Team Leader Location: Sheffield Salary: £52,000 + Bonus Hours: Monday – Friday, approximately 7:30am – 3:30pm No shifts, no call-out and no regular weekend working Are you an experienced Engineering Team Leader or Engineering Supervisor from a heavy manufacturing environment looking for a Monday-to-Friday days role? Would you like to lead an experienced engineering team without spending your entire working week behind a desk? This Engineering Team Leader position offers exactly that. You'll be joining a large heavy engineering site in Sheffield, taking responsibility for engineering maintenance across several production areas while leading an established team of experienced Engineering Technicians. Both mechanically and electrically biased engineers will be considered. You don't need to be an expert on every machine. The site has a huge variety of equipment and experienced technicians who know the plant. What we're looking for is someone who can lead people, organise engineering activity, make good decisions and provide technical support when needed. The role As the Engineering Team Leader, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day engineering performance of your areas. You'll be responsible for: * Leading and supporting the day Engineering Technicians * Prioritising planned and reactive maintenance * Supporting complex breakdowns and engineering problems * Developing and managing PPM schedules * Using the CMMS to plan and manage maintenance * Carrying out and reviewing risk assessments * Managing contractors and engineering permits * Planning maintenance during shutdowns * Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement * Coaching and developing engineers * Ordering engineering parts and working with OEMs * Maintaining high health, safety and engineering standards The equipment is varied and includes CNC lathes, borers, bar peelers, straighteners, saws, inspection equipment, laboratory equipment and associated heavy manufacturing machinery. SMP - Lead Engineer - SMP JD Re… What we're looking for The successful Engineering Team Leader will ideally have: * Experience within heavy manufacturing or heavy engineering * Previous engineering supervisory or leadership experience * A mechanical or electrical engineering background * Experience carrying out risk assessments * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills * Experience organising engineers and maintenance activities * A relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship Experience with CNC machinery, PLCs, furnaces or control systems would be useful, but you don't need to be an expert in all of these areas.
