We're recruiting a Head of Engineering for a leading food manufacturer based in Cookstown. This is a senior leadership role where you'll take full ownership of engineering and maintenance across a busy, high-volume site. If you're an experienced Head of Engineering or a strong Engineering Manager ready to step up, this is a chance to lead from the front, drive performance, and shape the future of the department.
What you'll be doing as Head of Engineering:
- Lead, develop, and structure the site engineering team
- Take full ownership of planned and reactive maintenance across all equipment
- Drive reliability improvements, reduce downtime, and improve asset performance
- Ensure compliance across food safety, H&S, and environmental standards
- Oversee maintenance systems, calibration schedules, and engineering documentation
- Set, track, and report on engineering KPIs to senior leadership
- Work closely with production and technical teams to resolve issues quickly
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and TPM principles
What we're looking for in a Head of Engineering:
- Proven experience in a Head of Engineering or senior engineering leadership role
- Background in food manufacturing or FMCG (abattoir experience a bonus)
- Strong understanding of maintenance systems, quality systems, and compliance
- Experience managing preventative maintenance, calibrations, and repairs
- Confident leading teams and driving performance on a fast-paced site
- Knowledge of Lean, TPM, and continuous improvement methodologies
- HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent
- Strong communicator, organised, and able to operate at a senior level
