We're recruiting a Senior Maintenance Engineer for a large heavy engineering site in Sheffield.
You'll remain predominantly hands-on, working alongside experienced Engineering Technicians, but you'll also help organise engineering activity, supervise work and step up for the Lead Engineers when required.
Both mechanically and electrically biased engineers will be considered.
The role
As the Senior Maintenance Engineer, you'll work across a huge variety of heavy manufacturing equipment, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance while helping coordinate the engineering team.
You'll be responsible for:
- Electrical and/or mechanical fault finding
- Planned and reactive maintenance
- Supporting complex breakdowns
- Supervising Engineering Technicians day-to-day
- Planning and delivering PPMs
- Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement
- Organising engineering work and priorities
- Managing contractors
- Reviewing RAMS and issuing permits
- Carrying out risk assessments
- Ordering engineering parts
- Supporting planned shutdowns
- Working alongside specialist OEM engineers
- Deputising for Lead Engineers when required
The site contains a huge variety of equipment including CNC lathes, borers, bar peelers, straighteners, saws, forge equipment, inspection equipment and laboratory machinery. SMP - Section Engineer - SMP JD
What we're looking for
The successful Senior Maintenance Engineer will ideally have:
- Experience within heavy manufacturing or heavy engineering
- Strong hands-on maintenance experience
- A mechanical or electrical engineering background
- Some supervisory, senior or team-leading experience
- Experience with risk assessments
- Good fault-finding skills
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems
- A relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship
You don't need to know every piece of equipment on the site. We're looking for an experienced engineer who can solve problems, organise work, support other engineers and take responsibility when needed. SMP - Section Engineer - SMP JD
