This Maintenance Engineer opportunity is based at a busy food-manufacturing site specialising in onion packing. The business is open to either a Monday-to-Friday night shift or a four-on, four-off pattern, allowing the exact arrangement to be discussed with the right person.
You’ll be the sole engineering presence during your shift, so this position needs someone experienced, dependable and comfortable making decisions without another engineer standing beside them.
The role
As the Maintenance Engineer, you’ll take responsibility for keeping the production and packing equipment running safely and efficiently throughout the night. Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to electrical and mechanical breakdowns
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and servicing
- Fault-finding across production and packing machinery
- Reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability
- Working closely with production to prioritise engineering requirements
- Identifying recurring faults and supporting continuous improvement
- Completing engineering records and maintenance documentation
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and food hygiene

The Maintenance Engineer they need will have strong multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing, production, food, FMCG or packaging environment. You’ll ideally have:
- Electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience
- Experience maintaining automated production or packing machinery

- A proactive approach to breakdowns, PPMs and equipment reliability
- A recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience
- The flexibility to work permanent nights
