About The Role
Purpose of role: Orange Business Payroll Manager (PM) – UK & Ireland is responsible for all payroll of the UK & Irish companies. Reporting directly to the RAM and working principally with the outsourced payroll company, he/she is responsible for quality, completeness and accuracy of monthly payroll and to ensure compliance and completion of all local statutory reporting. This involves resolving payroll queries, reviewing and approving month-end journals, reviewing month-end reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and TB, preparation of ad-hoc analytics, ensure all payroll related payments are completed successfully as well as control over the monthly Pension Scheme contributions. To achieve this objective, PM also needs to closely work with Regional Accounting Manager (RAM) and various other internal OB teams and departments (such as HR, Global Benefits, Finance, Tax, etc.). PM is the local point of contact with external auditors and advisors, and OB teams including Internal Audit and Chief Accounting Office (CAO), and responsible to ensure all statutory compliance activities are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner. PM is expected to be able to work independently in achieving all objectives, as well as keeping his/her manager up to date on key progress and potential issues.
Main activities:
- Work with GL managers for UK and Irish entities and provide support in day-to-day activities of the GL accounting team on payroll, pension, bank and other designated accounts.
- Prepare, review and approve payroll related journals for UK and Ireland.
- Support UK and Ireland Finance Managers in preparation/review of Extended Trial Balances for respective entities as well as the internal / external audit process.
- Assist GL Managers in preparation of statutory audit packs for external auditors and reporting packs for internal reporting requirements.
- Review assigned monthly balance sheet reconciliations prepared by GL Managers.
- Being the Payroll Relationship Manager for OB; liaising with internal parties and outsourced supplier to ensure correct monthly payroll for sign-off by RAM.
- Providing information to the payroll service provider, where necessary, and being the primary point of contact for them within the finance team.
- Obtain and/or prepare reports from payroll system and distributing to the relevant parties, e.g. GL Managers for journal processing.
- Prepare and maintain the monthly calendar and ensure associated activities are completed on time by all relevant parties; including pre-payroll and post-payroll activities (such as third party or employee payments and submission of reports such as to pension providers).
- Coordinate with payroll service provider in management of statutory payroll returns to HMRC such as P11ds or PSA returns etc., accumulate the necessary data from within the business and be able to work with review the statutory returns prepared by payroll provider.
- Provide support in DC pension admin and Death in Service Scheme, such as providing audit support.

About You
Skills / Experience Core Competencies:
- Extensive Knowledge of UK & Irish payroll.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work within a complex environment, with staff across the globe.
- Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision making.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical accounting expertise (IFRS standard).
- Language skills: English.
- Professional qualification (CIPP).
- Minimum 5 years of payroll and finance operations’ experience in UK and Irish payroll.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, with strong focus on excel.
