Role Overview
Oradeo is recruiting an experienced Commercial Manager to join a major project team in London. This role will play a key part in the commercial management of large-scale construction projects, supporting delivery teams from pre-construction through to final account.
The successful candidate will lead commercial strategy, manage contract administration, oversee cash flow and cost control, and mentor junior commercial staff while ensuring contractual compliance and best-in-class project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, interim, and final valuations, applications for payment, and cost reconciliations.
- Manage commercial aspects of contracts, subcontractors, specialists, and suppliers.
- Provide accurate reporting to support regular review of cash flow and contract positions.
- Work closely with the Procurement Manager to place and manage sub-contracts.
- Review contract documents and identify risks, opportunities, and anomalies.
- Prepare, submit, and agree interim and final valuations with client representatives.
- Complete detailed take-offs to support estimating, procurement, and planning functions.
- Prepare and agree final accounts for completed sections of work.
- Accurately record and manage contractual delays and variations.
- Lead, manage, and mentor Quantity Surveyors, Assistant Surveyors, and Junior Surveyors.
- Support collaboration across project teams to drive commercial performance.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years' experience in a commercial management role, ideally with a main contractor.
- Strong background in construction or civil engineering projects (residential, commercial, or industrial).
- Chartered or working towards chartership with the Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS) or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and contract administration experience.
- High level of IT proficiency.
