Facilities Specialist 4 in City of Westminster

The Data Center Facilities Engineer (DCFE) is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of critical maintenance activities across the electrical and mechanical infrastructure of Oracle’s data centers. The DCFE works closely with OCI colocation partners to ensure all work is performed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with manufacturer recommendations, industry best practices, and operational standards. The engineer reviews and risk-assesses all maintenance activities through established change-management processes, maintains site resilience and redundancy, and leads incident investigations and root-cause analyses for infrastructure events. The DCFE provides continuous operational oversight, manages escalation, communicates with stakeholders, and drives corrective actions to achieve 100% uptime and continuous improvement.

Daily Duties

• Lead regular meetings with co-location partners to review annual maintenance calendars.
• Review MOPs and SOPs for accuracy and safety to assess potential business impact.
• Ensure critical system redundancy is available and equipment is maintained in accordance with published schedules.
• Create Oracle change-management requests to risk-assess critical infrastructure activities.
• Act as the Oracle lead on the investigation and resolution of engineering incidents within assigned data centers.
• Undertake power and cooling capacity audits to ensure data centers operate to design capacities.
• Monitor environmental data and respond to and investigate power/cooling alarms.
• Support infrared scanning of electrical infrastructure.
• Provide SME guidance to local data center operations teams on critical infrastructure matters.
• Provide out-of-hours on-call coverage in accordance with schedule, represent Oracle with partner organizations, and hold them accountable for meeting commitments.
• Ensure partner organizations adhere to Oracle change-management policies.
• Maintain data center utilization within capacity limits.
• Ensure environmental and capacity tools report accurately and are up-to-date.
• Maintain a complete and up-to-date facility documentation repository.
• Ensure data hall cooling containment meets design standards.
• Adhere to room layout and power striping design when installing IT equipment.
• Assist in developing dashboards and automation to support scalable solutions.
• Be reachable via cell phone and willing to work onsite as emergencies require outside business hours.
• Participate in and complete training aligned with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new technologies.
• Act within Service Level Agreements (SLA) on tickets assigned to the DCFE.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of data center power and cooling critical systems, their troubleshooting, and experience operating electrical and/or power electronic systems.
• Change-management experience, including creating and implementing maintenance tickets.
• Ability to read and utilize electrical and mechanical schematics and construction drawings.
• Experience establishing, managing, and maintaining effective co-location relationships.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
• Curiosity about learning new data center concepts; conscientious and trustworthy.
