This is a senior leadership role for an experienced building physics and energy professional who is passionate about delivering sustainable, high-performing buildings and leading high-performing teams.

The Role

As Senior Energy Engineer, you will provide technical and strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects, managing and mentoring a team of engineers and team leads.

You will play a key client-facing role, building strong relationships with clients, presenting technical solutions, and guiding projects from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of energy engineers and team leads, fostering collaboration, development and technical excellence.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, confidently presenting technical findings and sustainable design solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership on building physics, energy modelling and sustainability projects.
  • Undertake and oversee daylight, sunlight and overshadwing analyses.
  • Conduct and review wind and microclimate assessments.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate energy and building systems, communicating findings to clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Carry out Part L and BER performance assessments and cross-checks for preliminary designs and planning applications.
  • Lead projects from detailed design through to practical completion.
  • Mentor and support junior and graduate engineers, contributing to their professional development.
  • Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and present sustainability strategies for clients, providing clear, practical recommendations to achieve low-carbon, high-performance building outcomes.

Skills and Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Sustainability, Building Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of

10 years' technical experience in building physics, energy modelling and sustainable building design.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management capacity.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing engineering teams, including the management of senior team members and team leads.
  • Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and confidently to clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, report-writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, particularly
  • Part L and
  • BER requirements
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and standards would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in
  • IESVE and

One Click LCA software is essential.

  • Experience in delivering sustainability and low-carbon building solutions.
  • Professional accreditation such as
  • BREEAM Assessor/AP
  • LEED Green Associate/AP

, or similar sustainability certifications would be highly desirable.

  • Chartered Engineer status or progression towards chartership would be advantageous.
