Working closely with the Head of Production, you will help lead the end-to-end delivery of high-quality video content from concept through to publication - including interviews, live events, and reactive news coverage. You will also support the day-to-day running of studio operations, oversee production workflows, and contribute to the strategic development of our video output. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment, can make confident decisions under pressure, and is comfortable balancing operational leadership with hands-on delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Production in overseeing all aspects of video production, ensuring consistent quality and output across the team.
  • Lead on the planning, shooting, and editing of interviews, features, and live broadcasts.
  • Take ownership of complex or high-profile productions, including live events and multi-camera shoots.
  • Deputise for the Head of Production when required, including team coordination and decision-making.
  • Manage and optimise studio operations, ensuring all technical equipment and workflows are running efficiently.
  • Provide technical leadership across camera, lighting, audio, and editing setups.
  • Edit high-quality video and audio content to tight deadlines, often reacting to breaking news.
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to shape content, bringing strong story judgement and a clear news sense.
  • Drive best practice in video production, workflows, and output quality.
  • Mentor and support more junior team members, helping to develop skills and performance.
  • Ensure content is optimised for digital platforms, including YouTube, with a strong understanding of packaging, SEO, and audience engagement.
  • Contribute ideas for new formats, content innovation, and audience growth.
  • Maintain flexibility to respond to live events, including occasional out-of-hours and weekend work.

Requirements

  • Significant professional experience in video production within a newsroom, media, or digital content environment.
  • Proven ability to lead productions end-to-end, including live and studio-based output.
  • Advanced technical expertise across filming, lighting, audio, and post-production workflows.
  • Expert proficiency with Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with vMix and DaVinci Resolve highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the YouTube ecosystem, including content performance, packaging, and optimisation.
  • Demonstrable editorial judgement and a strong news sense.
  • Experience managing or mentoring team members, with confident leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
