Head of Commercial

Head of Commercial

Full-Time On-site
O

OpusRS has partnered with a venture-backed AI and technology business that's quietly building one of the most exciting growth stories in the UK.

Over the last few years, they've built a strong reputation within a major operational industry, developed deep customer relationships with some of the sector's leading brands, and are now evolving into a much broader AI-powered software platform.

As the business enters its next phase of growth, they're looking for a Head of Commercial to work directly alongside the CEO and COO and help scale the company.

This is not a traditional sales leadership role.

In fact, some of the strongest profiles we're speaking to aren't career sales leaders at all.

They're people who've helped build and scale businesses.

People who've joined early, worn multiple hats, worked alongside founders, solved messy problems, built teams, launched new initiatives, scaled functions, and grown with the companies they've helped create.

The Opportunity

The previous person in this role has recently stepped into the COO position, creating an opportunity for someone to take ownership of a highly visible and strategically important function.

You'll sit at the intersection of:

  • Commercial
  • Customer
  • Product
  • Operations

You'll work directly with customers, help shape how the product evolves, drive commercial growth, develop the team and play a major role in defining what the business becomes over the next few years.

This is a role for someone who enjoys building rather than maintaining.

Responsibilities

  • Own strategic customer relationships and help drive customer growth and retention
  • Lead the commercial function and support its continued scale-up
  • Work closely with Product to turn customer insight into product improvements
  • Identify new growth opportunities, partnerships and revenue streams
  • Support expansion initiatives and new market opportunities
  • Develop processes, structures and ways of working as the business grows
  • Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and COO
  • Help shape the company's next phase of growth

We're Looking For

You might currently be a:

  • Head of Commercial
  • Commercial Director
  • VP Commercial
  • Head of Growth
  • Chief of Staff
  • General Manager
  • Customer or Revenue Leader

Equally, you may have started your career in:

  • Investment Banking

before moving into a more operational, customer-facing or commercial leadership role.

The common theme is that you've helped businesses grow.

You’ll likely have experience of:

Joining businesses during periods of growth and change

Building teams, functions, processes or operating models

Working directly with founders, executives or senior stakeholders

Owning commercial outcomes and driving growth

Solving complex customer and business problems

Operating in environments where the playbook doesn't already exist

Balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution

The Sort of Person Who Thrives Here

You'll probably enjoy this role if:

  • You'd rather build something than inherit something
  • You get energised by growth-stage businesses
  • You're comfortable operating with ambiguity
  • You're comfortable working directly with customers and understanding their challenges
  • You like turning ideas into actionYou're equally happy discussing strategy with the CEO or rolling your sleeves up to solve a problem yourself
  • You've previously helped scale a company and would love to do it again

Why Join?

  • Work directly with an ambitious founder and leadership team
  • Significant influence across the business
  • High visibility and genuine ownership
  • Strong salary and meaningful equity package
  • Opportunity to help build a category-defining AI company
  • Join at a pivotal stage in the company's growth journey

If you've helped build and scale businesses before, and you're looking for an opportunity to do it again with a highly ambitious AI company, we'd love to hear from you.
