Rate of Pay: £16.35 per hour PAYE
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm with flexible hours available. Occasional weekend and evening work required.
Working Schedule: Hybrid - onsite visits required, up to 3 days onsite at Waterbeach Management Park (onsite basis to be discussed with manager).
Duration: 12-week temporary role with potential to move to a fixed-term basis with Cambridgeshire County Council until March 2028.
DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS - if you do not have one, Opus People Solutions will process one on your behalf.

Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our Client, Cambridgeshire County Council, for a Waste Development Officer on a temporary basis. This is a great opportunity for candidates with environmental experience or interest, including recent graduates.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support across waste service delivery and development.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of projects related to waste service delivery.
- Monitor contract performance, collect and analyse data, and contribute towards reports to support decision-making.
- Undertake inspections of operational and closed waste sites throughout the County.
- Support stakeholder engagement, including working with contractors, local authorities, internal teams and partner organisations.
- Contribute to procurement, compliance, and governance processes linked to project delivery.
- Assist with public engagement and behaviour change campaigns to support waste reduction and recycling initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including correspondence, reports, and records.
Requirements
- Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
- Experience in operational, waste, or environmental roles is desirable but not essential.
- Understanding of waste management principles is desirable but not essential.
- Environmental qualification or relevant experience is desirable but not essential.
