LABC is the membership organisation for local authority building control teams across England and Wales. We're looking for an experienced Events Manager to lead our busy events programme to deliver a wide range of events to the highest standard.

Location: Hybrid - with attendance at our London and Stockport offices as required, plus travel to meetings and events across England and Wales.

Salary: £36-£40k per annum, dependent on skills, location and experience.

Pension: 8% employer contribution after three months of service.

Contract: Fixed term, 12 months.

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week.

Annual Leave: 27 days per annum.

The LABC events team delivers a diverse and ambitious events programme throughout the year, ranging from online CPD courses and webinars, residential conferences, awards ceremonies and national recruitment assessment centres.

About the Role

As Events Manager you'll be responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of a wide variety of events from concept through to completion. Working closely with the wider LABC team, you'll ensure events are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest professional standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of a varied annual programme including residential conferences, awards ceremonies, professional training events, webinars and assessment centres; engaging hundreds of delegates from across England and Wales.
  • Liaise with the executive team to understand objectives, budgets, and event requirements.
  • Creating engaging marketing copy for events.
  • Proof reading and editing event materials.
  • Develop event timelines, schedules, and project plans.
  • Source and manage venues, suppliers, entertainment, catering, and equipment.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships.
  • Monitor event budgets and ensure cost-effective delivery.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including staffing, transport, accommodation, and on-site operations.
  • Lead event setup, delivery, and breakdown.
  • Identify and resolve issues quickly during event planning and execution.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and provide reports and recommendations to the executive team.
  • Lead, develop and motivate a small team of Event Coordinators, setting priorities, supporting professional development and ensuring the successful delivery of the annual events programme.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing the end-to-end delivery of a diverse programme of events.
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing staff, with line management responsibility for individuals or small teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver multiple events and competing deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrable experience managing event budgets, monitoring expenditure and achieving value for money while maintaining high-quality delivery.
  • Experience sourcing, negotiating and managing contracts with venues, suppliers and service providers.
  • Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex event logistics and operational requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with senior leaders, colleagues, suppliers and external partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce reports, evaluations and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to identify risks, solve problems and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing on-site event delivery, including event set-up, operations and troubleshooting during live events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Flexibility to travel across England and Wales and work occasional evenings and weekends where required.
