About the Role

Northamptonshire Children's Trust is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join its Children with Disabilities Team based in Kettering.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a specialist service supporting some of the most vulnerable children and young people.

You will manage a varied caseload involving Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children in Care, ensuring children receive the appropriate support, protection, and services to meet their individual needs.

Working within a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment, you will play a key role in assessing needs, developing care plans, arranging support packages, and promoting positive outcomes for children and families.

Working

Pattern: Hybrid working, with a minimum of 3 days per week office-based at the William Knibb Centre

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage cases involving Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children in Care.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families.
  • Assess needs and develop effective care and support plans.
  • Arrange, review, and monitor care packages and short break provision.
  • Complete statutory visits, assessments, reports, and reviews within required timescales.
  • Work closely with education, health professionals, and other partner agencies.
  • Contribute to safeguarding children and managing risk effectively.
  • Ensure children's voices and lived experiences remain central to all interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and documentation.
  • Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, reviews, and planning discussions.

Skills/Experience

  • Social Work England registration.
  • Essential experience working within a Children with Disabilities Team.
  • Experience managing Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children in Care cases.
  • Strong assessment, care planning, and safeguarding skills.
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environments.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and case management skills.
  • A child-centred approach with a commitment to achieving positive outcomes.
  • This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.

As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
