Are you passionate about maintaining outdoor spaces and take pride in delivering high quality work? Vertas is looking for a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our Facilities Team in Ipswich.

The Role
Working as part of our Grounds Maintenance Team, you will help maintain public spaces including parks, office grounds, sports facilities and local grass verges, ensuring all areas are presented to the highest standards. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to work across a variety of sites and outdoor environments. You will be based in Ipswich, 37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri.
Key Responsibilities
- Grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning and strimming
- Leaf clearance, planting, seeding and weed control
- Setting out, overmarking and maintaining sports pitches
- Upkeep of artificial and synthetic surfaces
- Operation of powered hand tools and ride on mowers
- Site preparation, soft and hard landscaping activities
- Maintaining equipment and vehicles to a safe standard
- Working in line with health and safety procedures
What We're Looking For
- Previous grounds maintenance, horticultural or landscaping experience
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A motivated and reliable approach
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
- PA1 and PA6 Pesticide Application Certificates
- Horticultural qualification
- Knowledge of fine turf surfaces
- Understanding of grounds maintenance specifications and health and safety requirements
- Experience towing trailers
- Strong plant knowledge
