As an Independent Child Protection Chair, you will act on behalf of Milton Keynes Council to manage child protection processes and ensure that all children in the area are safeguarded. You will hold a caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans, chair their conferences, and oversee and scrutinise the Local Authority's management of these plans.
Remote/Office based: Office based role, however some working at home is possible in-between conferences.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing and implementing child protection and looked-after children's policies in line with legislation, guidance, and internal procedures.
- Leading on specialist aspects of the safeguarding process, supported by robust evidence-based decision-making and planning.
- Providing professional consultation, advice, and information to staff, partner agencies, and external organisations regarding child protection processes.
- Ensuring the child's voice is heard and that families actively participate in the process to achieve positive outcomes.
- Promoting partnership working with key agencies to ensure collaboration, information sharing, and integrated planning for the benefit of children.
- Maintaining robust quality assurance and scrutiny systems that improve professional practice and outcomes for children and families.
