Are you passionate about preparing nutritious meals and leading a successful kitchen team? Vertas is looking for a dedicated School Chef to join our Catering Team at Bramcote C of E Primary School, NG9 3HE.
About the Role:
Based at Bramcote C of E Primary School, NG9 3HE, you will work 25 hours per week, 8:30am to 1:30pm, across 39.2 weeks per year. As School Chef, you will take responsibility for the day to day operation of the school kitchen, ensuring high quality meals are prepared and served while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the daily operation of the kitchen and meal service
- Preparing and cooking nutritious meals in line with menus and dietary requirements
- Leading, supporting and motivating kitchen team members
- Monitoring food stock levels and placing orders as required
- Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and hygiene standards at all times
- Completing relevant food safety records and documentation
- Ensuring excellent customer service for pupils, staff and visitors
- Managing portion control and helping to minimise food waste
Who are we looking for?
- Previous experience within a catering or kitchen environment
- Experience supervising or leading a team
- Good organisational and time management skills
- A positive and proactive approach to work
- The ability to work effectively in a busy environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
