Salary: £130,000 - £150,000 + competitive benefits package + bonus

Responsible to: Internal Communications Director

Work Pattern: Hybrid (2-3 days a week in the office)

The Head of Content and Channels is a senior member of the Internal Communications leadership team, reporting to the Director of Internal Communications, and is accountable for the organisation's content strategy, channel infrastructure and the central delivery capability for internal communications. Working from the strategic priorities and communication roadmaps developed with Strategic Internal Communications Business Partners, the role owns the forward planning, prioritisation and execution of integrated, audience-led communication across transversal, business unit and Group activity. It sets the editorial direction, standards and governance that ensures demand is translated into clear, consistent and high-quality internal communications. Leading a specialist team, the role brings communication to life across all channels and touchpoints and delivers major colleague engagement moments, creating a connected colleague experience that strengthens alignment, culture and business performance.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities

  • Editorial Strategy, Forward Planning & Governance
    • Define and own the UK&I content strategy and content planning process for Internal Communications
    • Set the forward planning and prioritisation framework that balances company-wide, business unit and Group demand
    • Act as the company’s editorial authority, ensuring a consistent narrative, tone of voice and high-quality output across all channels
    • Establish clear governance, workflows and quality standards that enable efficient, scalable and well-sequenced delivery
  • Strategic Business Partner Integration & Demand Management
    • Translate the strategic communication roadmaps developed by the Strategic Internal Communications Business Partners into integrated content and channel plans
    • Act as the central point for shaping, scheduling and prioritising demand, ensuring activity is aligned to business objectives and delivers maximum impact
    • Provide expert advice on the most effective channels, formats and engagement approaches to achieve business outcomes
    • Ensure business unit and functional priorities are appropriately reflected in transversal communications and campaigns
  • Company-wide Content, Campaigns & Major Engagement Moments
    • Provide the central delivery capability for major business announcements, updates and transversal engagement campaigns
    • Lead the communication and colleague experience for large-scale, high-profile meetings and events, using them as flagship moments to reinforce strategy, drive engagement around our priorities and celebrate progress
    • Ensure all activity is integrated across all our channels and touchpoints, with clear pre- and post-engagement to maximise impact
  • Channel Strategy & Colleague Experience
    • Define and own the strategy and roadmap for the internal communications channel infrastructure
    • Oversee the ongoing optimisation, performance and governance of all channels and platforms
    • Ensure a seamless, joined-up and audience-led colleague experience across digital, face-to-face and leadership communication touchpoints
    • Lead the continuous evolution of the internal communications channels to reflect changing colleague needs and business priorities
  • Functional Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Internal Communications Managers, Senior Content and Channel Specialists and a Communications Assistant
    • Set clear objectives and align team resources to deliver transversal, business unit and Group priorities through a documented and agreed forward plan
    • Build capability in audience-led content creation, campaign delivery, channel management and event-led communication
    • Create a positive, inclusive and high-performance culture for the team focused on innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration
  • Insight, Measurement & Continuous Improvement
    • Define, track and report content, campaign, channel and event performance metrics
    • Use audience insight and data to inform editorial planning, channel development and content design
    • Contribute to company-wide communication evaluation and reporting
    • Continuously improve effectiveness, relevance and the overall colleague communication experience
  • Integration Across the Customer, Communications, Brand & Sustainability Function
    • Work as part of the wider Customer, Communications, Brand and Sustainability function to align internal content and channels with external, brand and customer activity where appropriate
    • Leverage shared assets, content, platforms and specialist expertise to maximise reach, consistency and impact

  • Significant experience leading content strategy and multi-channel internal communications in a complex organisation
  • Deep expertise in editorial planning, channel management and audience-led communication
  • Proven ability to translate strategic priorities into high-quality, engaging and integrated communication
  • Experience leading large-scale, high-profile internal events and engagement campaigns
  • Strong people leadership and team development capability
  • Experience establishing governance, prioritisation models and scalable delivery processes
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to operate at senior leadership level
  • Experience using data and insight to drive continuous improvement
