Registration Officer Rate of Pay: Β£15.08 per hour PAYE Location: Onsite at Registrar Office, Walsall Town Centre. Working Hours: 9am – 3.30pm with 30 minute unpaid break, Monday – Friday. 30 hours per week with flexibility. Duration: Temporary basis, 3 months with review to extend. Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our Client, Walsall Council, for a Registration Officer on a temporary basis. You will play a crucial role in providing daily support to the Registration Service. Daily Duties: Reception Duties – First point of contact for telephone and email enquiries. Diary Management – Booking and scheduling appointments for registration services. Document Production – Accurately produce copy certificates of birth, death, marriage and civil partnership including searching records, retrieving and filing registers at ground and higher level. Maintaining Records – Recording, maintaining and updating the systems. Payment Handling – Supporting and processing any payments to support members of the public. Essential Experience: Experience of Registration Services work is essential. Experience of dealing with the public in a confidential environment. Experience of administrative and clerical work. Experience of using computerised systems. Work a flexible working pattern that meets the requirements of the customer and the authority. An understanding of the legislation relating to the Registration Service, including the registration of births, still-births, death, marriages and civil partnerships. The post holder must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft products. Skills: Ability to provide a professional service to the customer, recognising their individual needs and circumstances. A flexible and adaptable approach to work and be able to deal with several issues simultaneously, responding to operational needs to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction. Ability to manage and prioritise own workload. Work to performance indicators set, which will include timeliness of appointments and management of customer demands. Ability to work and make decisions, within prescribed procedures, with the minimum supervision. Must be an excellent communicator, tactful, approachable, discreet and diplomatic, portraying an air of professional confidence.
