Are you passionate about preparing nutritious meals and leading a successful kitchen team? Vertas is looking for a dedicated School Chef to join our Catering Team at Bramcote C of E Primary School, NG9 3HE.
About the Role:
Based at Bramcote C of E Primary School, NG9 3HE, you will work 25 hours per week, 8:30am to 1:30pm, across 39.2 weeks per year. As School Chef, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen, ensuring high quality meals are prepared and served while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.
- Managing the daily operation of the kitchen and meal service
- Preparing and cooking nutritious meals in line with menus and dietary requirements
- Leading, supporting and motivating kitchen team members
- Monitoring food stock levels and placing orders as required
- Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and hygiene standards at all times
- Completing relevant food safety records and documentation
- Ensuring excellent customer service for pupils, staff and visitors
- Managing portion control and helping to minimise food waste
Who are we looking for?
- Previous experience within a catering or kitchen environment
- Experience supervising or leading a team
- Good organisational and time management skills
- A positive and proactive approach to work
- The ability to work effectively in a busy environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
