We are currently working with a forward-thinking Local Authority to appoint an experienced Locum Occupational Therapist to support their Adult Social Care service during a period of increased demand. The Role
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions across a varied caseload. This includes supporting adults with complex needs, implementing care plans, and working collaboratively with wider multi-disciplinary teams. You will play a key role in promoting independence, reducing risk, and ensuring appropriate provision of equipment and adaptations in line with legislative frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake strengths-based assessments under the Care Act
- Complete functional assessments and recommend appropriate equipment and adaptations
- Manage a varied caseload, including complex cases
- Work collaboratively with social workers, housing teams, and health colleagues
- Contribute to safeguarding processes where required
- Ensure accurate and timely case recording
Essential Criteria
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration
- Experience working within Adult Social Care in a local authority setting
- Strong understanding of the Care Act and relevant legislation
- Experience completing moving and handling assessments
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs)
- Knowledge of housing adaptations and major works
- Previous experience in community-based roles
- Familiarity with local authority case management systems
