Suffolk Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join its Social Care Team in Stowmarket. This role involves working with children and families across a range of statutory functions, managing complex cases and contributing to high-quality, child-focused practice.

  • Manage a complex social work caseload, currently averaging 40 cases
  • Make and implement autonomous professional decisions on cases involving high levels of complexity, risk, and uncertainty, with managerial oversight where required
  • Plan and deliver targeted interventions to meet identified needs and reduce risk for children and families
  • Work closely with partner agencies to coordinate support, services, and resources
  • Lead and carry out Section 47 (child protection) investigations, ensuring thorough and timely enquiries where significant harm is suspected

Skills:

  • Proven experience managing complex caseloads and delivering effective social work practice with children and families
  • Strong ability to complete in-depth assessments of risk and need, and to design and implement effective interventions
  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England Registration
