Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a newly established Assessment and Intervention Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a pilot team sitting within MASH, designed to transform how families are supported at the earliest stage. The team has been developed in line with the Family First Partnership Programme, with a clear focus on:
- Early intervention
- Reducing escalation into statutory social work teams
- Supporting families promptly and effectively
You will play a key role in standing up and shaping the IFD Assessment Team, helping to build a responsive service that alleviates pressure on teams managing high caseloads.
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days remote
Hours: 37 hours per week (30 hours / 4 days considered)
Rate: Up to £42 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake assessments and direct work with families within a fast-paced environment
- Carry out visits and interventions to support early help and prevent escalation
- Work collaboratively within MASH and multi-agency settings
- Support the development and implementation of this new pilot model
- Maintain accurate, high-quality case recording and decision-making
- Contribute to reducing demand across statutory social work services
About You:
- Proven experience working within an Assessment & Intervention (A&I) team
- Strong assessment and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, front-door / MASH environment
- Confident decision-making and risk management capability
- Excellent communication and partnership-working skills
