About the Role
Peterborough City Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager to provide specialist leadership within Children in Care and Leaving Care Services, supporting our Corporate Parenting responsibilities. The role focuses on strong leadership practice with adolescents who experience complex emotional needs, trauma, exploitation risks, and high-risk behaviours. The successful candidate will embed trauma-informed, relationship-based practice to improve safety, stability, and long-term outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong practice leadership within Corporate Parenting Services
- Lead and support practitioners working with adolescents experiencing trauma, exploitation, and high-risk behaviours
- Ensure delivery of trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions
- Oversee multi-agency care planning, ensuring timely and outcome-focused plans
- Ensure all statutory responsibilities are met within safeguarding and corporate parenting frameworks
- Promote a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and high aspirations for children in care and care leavers
Skills
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
- Significant post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s services
- Substantial management or supervisory experience, ideally within Children in Care and/or Leaving Care services
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective practice leadership, supervision, and challenge
- Experience working within multi-agency environments to achieve positive outcomes for young people
