Coventry City Council | Temporary Assignment via Opus People Solutions

Location: Hybrid Working - Minimum 2 office days per week

Office Locations: One Friargate and Whitley Depot, Coventry

Pay Rate: £14.82 per hour PAYE / £19.67 per hour Umbrella

Hours: 30 hours per week (flexible across 4 or 5 days)

Contract: Temporary - Initially 1 month, with a strong possibility of extension

All applicants must hold Full UK Driving Licence, access to their own vehicle.

About the Role

Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of Coventry City Council for a Waste Data Officer to join the Domestic Waste Team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and analytical professional who enjoys working with data, supporting operational teams, and contributing to the effective delivery of frontline waste services across the city.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support, ensuring service data compliance and assisting with the coordination and oversight of a designated team of Waste Support Assistants. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, producing performance information, and supporting continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver administrative support and assistance to the Domestic Waste Team.
  • Ensure compliance with service data and reporting requirements.
  • Support the management and coordination of Waste Support Assistants.
  • Produce, analyse and maintain reports using a range of ICT systems and applications.
  • Monitor and maintain data accuracy across waste service systems.
  • Work collaboratively with operational and administrative teams to improve service delivery.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with Council policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, equality, diversity and inclusion requirements.
  • Attend mandatory training and participate in development activities relevant to the role.
  • Provide additional support to Waste Data Assistants and wider service areas as required.

  • Previous experience within Domestic or Commercial Waste Operations.
  • Knowledge of waste management, recycling services and relevant legislation.
  • Experience supporting service performance, compliance or operational reporting functions.

Working Arrangements

30 hours per week. Flexible working pattern across either 4 or 5 days. Minimum of 2 office-based days per week. Office attendance split between: One Friargate (Data Performance & Continuous Improvement Team) Whitley Depot (City Services Team)
